CHM 166 - General Chemistry I 5.0 Credit(s) Lecture 3 Lab/Clinical 4 General Chemistry I, first of a two-semester sequence, covers the fundamentals of chemistry. Topics include: structure of the atom, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and kinetic theory of matter as applied to gases, liquids, and solids. General Chemistry I Lab explores the fundamentals of chemistry, emphasizing laboratory technique, data collection and analysis, and technical writing. Laboratory work complements each topic of study. Prerequisite(s): CHM 122 - Introduction to General Chemistry or a grade of “C”, or higher in one year of high school chemistry earned within the last two years, and one of the following: Math placement, or a grade of “C” or higher in MAT 102 - Intermediate Algebra .
