Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant (ACNA)


The Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant (ACNA) program is designed as a continuation of the 76-hour CNA course to build upon foundational CNA skills and prepare individuals for more complex responsibilities in hospital and acute care settings. Students will gain hands-on experience with advanced procedures, enhance their understanding of interdisciplinary care, and build confidence working with patients under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. This course aligns with the State of Iowa’s approved curriculum and is ideal for those seeking hospital-based employment or career advancement in healthcare.

Course Outline:


  1. Advanced Concepts in Patient Care - 10 hours
  2. Clinical Procedures & Documentation - 10 hours

  3. Interdisciplinary Team Functions - 10 hours

  4. Lab Practice - 15 hours

  5. Clinical Experience - 30 hours

 

Admission Requirements:


• Completion of the standard 76-hour CNA course

• Current CPR certification

• Valid immunization documentation

• Negative drug screen and background check

Attendance Requirements:


• No more than 7.5 hours of absence from didactic/lab instruction

• 100% attendance required for the 30-hour clinical component

Instructor Qualification:


Instructor is registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area in which the state requires registration, certification or licensure for the occupational area in which the instructor is teaching.
