The Paraeducator Generalist Certificate program is designed to address the six competencies needed for an individual to be successful in the PK-12 classroom. This training addresses the vital skills needed to become a paraeducator certification granted by the Iowa Department of Education and the Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE).

Certificate of Completion from Iowa Western Community College & Certification from Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BoEE) Learning Outcomes:

Educational Objective:
Professional - Satisfies training requirement for Iowa Paraeducator Certification Length of Course:
90 Contact Hours & online Admission Requirements:
- Individual has successfully completed all requirements of a board of educational examiners-approved paraeducator generalist program totaling 90 hours
- Individual has a high school diploma or equivalent
- Individual has successfully completed an Iowa division of criminal investigation background check. Has successfully completed a national criminal history background check.
- Individual has completed the all of the application steps for this certification
Attendance Requirements:
Must attend all 8 Zoom session every Wednesday night from 6pm-8pm Instructor Qualification:
Instructor is registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area in which the state requires registration, certification or licensure for the occupational area in which the instructor is teaching. |
