Paramedic courses enhance the skills of current EMTs to become nationally registered paramedics. Along with course work students will complete internship time and capstone experience to be able to complete the course and sit for National Registry. Students will also gain certification in ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS.

Paramedics provide the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Special Considerations in Trauma Admission Requirements:

Copy of current Iowa EMT or AEMT certification -
BLS Provider (CPR) Card -
High school diploma or GED -
Completed criminal background check (must be signed-no digital signatures accepted) -
Proof of current vaccinations and immunizations -
Two-step Tuberculin Skin Test or blood test -
Physical exam -
Minimum 18 years of age at time of enrollment -
Physically able to perform paramedic duties -
Formal acceptance into the Paramedic program Attendance Requirements:
No More than 20 hours being absent for any reason will be allowed per quarter. Any student who is absent for more than 20 hours will be reviewed by the Program Director, at which time, any disciplinary action up to any including dismissal from the course may occur. Instructor Qualification:
Instructor is registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area in which the state requires registration, certification or licensure for the occupational area in which the instructor is teaching. |
