OSHA 30 - General Industry


The OSHA 30-Hour General Industry course provides comprehensive safety training for supervisors, managers, and workers with safety responsibilities. This course expands on OSHA 10 content with in-depth coverage of hazard recognition, prevention strategies, and regulatory compliance across general industry environments. Students who complete the course receive an official OSHA 30-Hour General Industry card.

Course Outline:


Day 1 (≈7.5 hrs)

  • 0.25 hrs: Registration & Introductions
  • 1 hr: Introduction to OSHA (scope, mission, employers/workers’ rights)
  • 2 hrs: Managing Safety & Health Programs
  • 1 hr: Walking & Working Surfaces (including Fall Protection)
  • 2 hrs: Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), Fire Prevention & Protection
  • 1.5 hrs: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • 0.5 hr: Day wrap-up/review

Day 2 (≈7.5 hrs)

  • 2 hrs: Electrical Safety Standards
  • 1.5 hrs: Hazard Communication
  • 2 hrs: Materials Handling
  • 2 hrs: Permit-Required Confined Spaces

Day 3 (≈7.5 hrs)

  • 2 hrs: Powered Industrial Trucks (e.g., forklifts)
  • 2 hrs: Lockout/Tagout (Hazardous Energy Control)
  • 2 hrs: Fall Protection (additional coverage)
  • 1.5 hrs: Safety & Health Programs and Bloodborne Pathogens

Day 4 (≈7.5 hrs)

  • 1.5 hrs: Introduction to Industrial Hygiene
  • 2 hrs: Machine Guarding
  • 0.5 hr: Ergonomics
  • 0.5 hr: Welding, Cutting & Brazing
  • 2 hrs: Incident Investigation (analysis & response)
  • 1 hr: Hazardous Materials Overview

Day 5 (≈7.5 hrs)

  • Remaining Elective Topics (minimum 8 hrs total)
    • Suggested modules include: Scaffolds, Asbestos, Ergonomics (refresher), Recordkeeping, Process Safety Management, HAZWOPER Overview, etc.
  • Quiz/Final Exam & Course Wrap-Up

Admission Requirements:


18+, high school diploma or equivalent

Attendance Requirements:


Required attendance of 30 contact hours. Limited make-up allowed.

Instructor Qualification:


Instructor is registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area in which the state requires registration, certification or licensure for the occupational area in which the instructor is teaching.
