This 11-week, 33-hour course provides a qualitative and quantitative study of manufacturing processes, emphasizing the transformation of raw materials into value-added products. Students will explore both traditional and non-traditional manufacturing methods, analyze material properties, and evaluate process selection with a focus on quality, mechanical strength, and cost efficiency. The course promotes a comprehensive understanding of how manufacturing decisions impact design performance and economic outcomes.

- Introduction to Manufacturing Systems & Value-Added Processing - 3 hours
- Material Properties and Their Relevance in Manufacturing - 4 hours
- Overview of Traditional Manufacturing Processes (e.g., machining, forming, casting) - 6 hours
- Overview of Non-Traditional Manufacturing Processes (e.g., EDM, laser machining, waterjet) - 6 hours
- Process Selection Criteria: Quality, Strength, and Economics - 5 hours
- Comparative Case Studies: Process-Design Integration - 3 hours

If a student misses two or more classes their employer will be notified that they have missed two classes. IWCC will also notify the company every time that same individual misses any other classes. The student can work with the instructor to make up the class work and class time. |
