Our Iowa Western Phlebotomy Course includes a variety of teaching formats. It provides students with competency and confidence as they enter the world of phlebotomy. This course is formatted, to qualify students to sit for the ASCP National Certification Exam.

Learning Outcomes:
Completion of this course will prepare students to successfully complete the ASCP National Certification. Students can then be employed in a healthcare laboratory as a Nationally Certified Phlebotomist. Educational Objective:
Vocational Tuition:
Tuition: $1699.00 Fees: Instructor cost, textbook, handout, lab costs to include needles and vacutainers, lab artificial arms and pediatric feet, centrifuge, specimen cups, etc. Length of Course:
200-hour course; Two to three sessions per week for class/lab, typically a 4-6 week schedule; 40-hour work week for the clinical portion of this course. Students obtain 120 clinical hours over a three-week period, unless prior arrangements have been discussed. Course Outline:
200 contact hours: 80 hours of lecture/lab, 120 hours of clinical in an approved accredited lab. Admissions Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent of, CNA or direct patient care experience preferred, documentation of all immunization/vaccinations required. Iowa Western will coordinate drug screens and background checks after the start of this course. Attendance Requirements:
Course policy allows four hours of classroom/lab absence. Anything beyond four hours must be discussed with the instructor and/or program coordinator in advance. All 120 hours of clinical must be attended for successful completion. Instructor Qualification:
Instructor is registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area in which the state requires registration, certification or licensure for the occupational area in which the instructor is teaching. |
