Upon completion, participants will have a basic understanding of Lean concepts and how they can be applied in the workplace. Each qualifying participant will receive a Certificate of Completion in Lean 101 from Iowa Western Community College.

· Introduction to Lean Manufacturing / Definition of Lean - 30 minutes
· Recognizing Waste / 9 Wastes - 45 minutes
· Torch Simulation Orientation & Rules - 15 minutes
· Simulation: Round One - 30 minutes
· Debrief & Introduction to Lean Manufacturing Concepts - 30 minutes
· Lean Tools: Standardized Work, 5S, Visual Controls, Plant Layout - 45 minutes
· Simulation: Round Two - 30 minutes
· Lean Tools: Teams, Quick Changeover, Batch Reduction, POUS, Quality at the Source - 45 minutes
· Simulation: Round Three - 30 minutes
· Lean Tools: Pull/Kanban, Cellular Flow, TPM - 45 minutes
· Simulation: Round Four - 30 minutes
Conclusion: Benefits of Lean, Q&A, Wrap-Up - 30 minutes
Instructor Qualification:
Instructor is registered, certified, or licensed in the occupational area in which the state requires registration, certification or licensure for the occupational area in which the instructor is teaching.
