This three-year, 448-hour Registered Apprenticeship Related Technical Instruction (RTI) program prepares apprentices for skilled employment as Diesel Technicians. Instruction is delivered in conjunction with paid on-the-job learning (OJL) and is aligned with federally approved apprenticeship standards.

The program is registered with the United States Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship and administered through the Iowa Office of Apprenticeship, Iowa Workforce Development. Apprentices receive progressive, industry-aligned instruction covering diesel engine diagnostics, heavy vehicle maintenance, electrical systems, fuel systems, transmissions, drive axles, hydraulics, air brakes, air conditioning, and preventive maintenance.

Award Type:

Upon successful completion of all apprenticeship requirements, apprentices may be eligible to receive a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, issued through the Office of Apprenticeship.
